Etching is a technique used to create designs or text on metal by removing a thin layer of its surface using chemicals, acid, or laser technology. The process leaves recessed details that add texture and precision to the piece. It is commonly used in belt making to produce sharp logos, lettering, and decorative patterns on metal plates.
Etched belts cost $135 to $200, depending on whether you choose brass or zinc and a thickness of 2mm, 3mm or 4mm. Suitcase packing is $30 extra, which brings the top price to $230.

How to choose between etched and cast plates
The two methods give a different look. Silver mold casting produces plates with raised, sculpted detail: wings, crowns and figures that stand out from the surface. It is the method behind most of our boxing style belts. Etching works on a flat sheet of brass or zinc. The artwork is cut into the surface and filled with colour, which keeps fine lettering and detailed logos sharp. It is the usual choice for wrestling and fight promotions that want their exact logo on the belt.
